Amazon has argued that it is not liable for any of these accidents involving its contractors, some of which have occurred in cars, trucks, and vans that have not been certified as official Amazon vehicles. Moreover, according to the New York Times report, Amazon mandates that 999 of 1000 deliveries arrive on time, yet Amazon provides their contractors with less training and preparation than UPS and Fedex. This is in large part due to the fact that most of the people who deliver packages for Amazon are independent contractors.
